Lord Ganapati should never be placed in the south direction, in the house where there is a bathroom or any dirty things, the puja path should not be kept. If you want to keep an idol of Ganesha inside your shop or office, always keep in mind that the idol of Ganesha should not be in a sitting position.
One should always bring an idol of Ganesha in one's home whose nose is tilted to the left. One should keep only one idol of Ganesha in one's house of worship. Having two or more idols upsets Riddhi Siddhi.
