We know that our country got independence on 15th August. On this day India became free from British slavery and since then we decided to frame our own constitution in our country.
Many committees were formed to frame the constitution but our constitution was prepared but it was implemented on 26 January 1950. The day on which this constitution was implemented is celebrated as Republic Day across the country.
On the day of 26 January we hoist the national flag and salute. A public holiday is observed on this day. Our Prime Minister also hoists the national flag inside Delhi on this day. Also many programs are organized and parades are held.

Live broadcasting is done on TV and radio on this day. Many cultural programs are shown on TV. We also salute the flag in government offices and schools.
