According to the Meteorological Department, a low pressure area formed over southwest and adjoining West Central Bay of Bengal yesterday under the influence of persistent cyclonic circulation. 

Centered around 13.7N and 86.9E this morning over this area. This weather system will move north east. Numerical models on the formation of tropical cyclones in the pre-monsoon system are all consistent. Environmental conditions at sea are favorable for hurricanes. Sea surface temperatures hover around 30°C and weak and vertical winds beat sears and strengths.
